Uncle Duck Fishball Noodle (得哥鱼蛋粉)
Uncle Duck Fishball Noodle (得哥鱼蛋粉)but it doesn't sell duck :-). It is located near Pudu morning market, hence finding a parking is a challenge especially if you go on weekend mornings. The shop looks like a traditional Hong Kong style noodle shop, probably the owner is from Hong Kong. Walking into the shop will also remind you of the typical kopitiams in Hong Kong.
The fish balls are quite bouncy and nice and one bowl serves quite a number of fish balls. Soup tasted a bit fishy though.
细蓉, which means Wan Tan Noodle in Hong Kong. The noodle's texture is rather al dente although it has a slight hint of boric acid taste. The dumplings are relatively big with prawns inside, along with a soup base that includes dried prawns, giving it a special and delicious alternative.
Soup noodle comes with a slice of fried fish skin. The fish+meat balls taste better than the fish ball. The soup base is rather bland though.
You will be able to find a lot of interesting shops around the old Pudu area, such as this wholesale snacks store right opposite Uncle Duck Fishball Noddle.
WILL WE COME BACK? - Maybe. (Whilst the fish balls' textures are nice, the noodles and soup base (except for dumpling soup) is disappointing. Nevertheless, there are other dishes (rice-based, dishes-to-order, etc) that have not been tried yet.
